I’m an entrepreneurial journalist and field building consultant working at the intersection of editorial, audience, and product strategy.
I’m passionate about doing journalism with and for communities and building systems that make that work sustainable.
My approach
-
I believe in place-based journalism that makes people feel more connected to where they live and better equipped to navigate and shape it.
-
I prioritize developing a better understanding of who audience and community members are and making journalism products that they’ll find useful, delightful, and meaningful.
-
I incorporate system and workflow design into projects because I know that doing journalism that is consistently responsive to audience needs is as much about the production process as the content.

I typically need at least a month of lead time for larger projects, but I can always fit in a one-off consultation. Email me or book a time during my office hours to chat more.
My background
I’ve led audience-centric editorial transformation at a public media organization, directed a global fund for experimentation with new revenue and engagement models, run a global research project, grown a scrappy local media startup into an agenda setter for the city, reported from Nairobi, and edited Middle East coverage.
I’ve also coached, taught, and led workshops with organizations around the world and co-founded Perspectives.
